The Secretary of State for Strategic Affairs Iulian Fota had a meeting on Monday, October 24, 2022, with the delegation of the Indonesia-Romania friendship group within the Indonesian Parliament, led by Mrs. Nurul Arifin, the president of the group, during the visit to Bucharest of Indonesian officials, MAE reports in a press release, Agerpres reads.
According to the press release, the interlocutors appreciated the developments recorded in Romanian-Indonesian relations, marked in recent years by frequent contacts at parliamentary and governmental level.
„They highlighted the prospects of maintaining this dynamic in the next period as well, including through high-level visits, in the context of the constant efforts of both states to promote their bilateral relations, with an emphasis on intensifying the economic and commercial component of bilateral relations.
The Romanian side showed that within the European Union-ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) relations and in the perspective of Indonesia taking over the rotating ASEAN Presidency, Romania will continue to support the expansion of EU-Indonesia cooperation.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for an exchange of views on the war in Ukraine and its consequences at the global level. Secretary of State Iulian Fota emphasized the importance of maintaining European and world unity and solidarity, while calling on Indonesia, as a relevant regional actor and from the perspective of holding the current Presidency of the G20, and in the future, of ASEAN, to make its contribution to the identification of solutions for the stabilization of the seriously affected region”, it was also specified in the press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, sent to the Ecopolitic editorial office.
