Romania needs solid actions to encourage the participation of women in politics, more women are needed at the decision-making table because this represents the healthy path that ensures the correct representation of more than half of the country’s population in the Romanian Parliament, said Alina Gorghiu, acting president of the Senate, on Tuesday, at the opening of the „Parliamentary women from Romania and the promotion of gender equality as a national commitment” international conference, according to Agerpres.

„Please allow me to open, together with you, the proceedings of the Conference „Parliamentary women from Romania and the promotion of gender equality as a national commitment”, held under the High Patronage of President Klaus Iohannis, an event that established as a priority the creation of a forum for applied debates, convergent at the national and European level, to capacitate the potential of women in the Romanian Parliament in order to ensure equal opportunities between women and men,” Gorghiu specified.
