Romanian Prime Minister: We want minimum wage to increase, amount will depend on draft budget figures

Published on

Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca declared on Wednesday, in Petresti, southern Dambovita County, that at the level of the current government, an increase in the minimum wage is desired, but the value of the amount by which it will increase will depend on the figures that will be found in the draft budget for the future, according to Agerpres.

The head of the Executive responded to a press conference at the end of the working visit he made together with the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Marcel Ciolacu, Social Democratic Party (PSD) leader, to the Iveco truck factory in Petresti.

The Prime Minister emphasized that, beyond the minimum limit of the minimum wage, each employer can set the wage according to the value of the work performed by an employee.

„When we talk about the increase in the minimum wage, we are talking about a limit from which each of those who have employees can remunerate them depending on the activity they perform. And you were probably next to me when I talked with the Iveco company employee and he answered that the salary he has is a motivating one. It is within the reach of any manager, within the reach of any leader of such a company to establish the salary according to the value of the work performed by each individual employee,” the PM said.
