Currency exchange through vending machines by exchange offices that own tourist structures, forbidden

The government approved a decision that stipulates, among other things, that it is forbidden to carry out foreign exchange activity through vending machines of this kind by foreign exchange offices and entities that have in administration tourist reception structures with accommodation functions, a gov’t release informs, according to Agerpres.

The approved piece of legislation indicates the entities that are subject to the procedure of authorization and/ or registration with the Ministry of Finance, in order to carry out the foreign exchange activity for individuals and for collecting the traveller’s cheques, on the territory of Romania, being targeted in this respect the foreign exchange offices and respectively the entities that hold in administration the tourist reception structures with functions of tourist accommodation that request to carry out these activities.

Moreover, it is established that the documents on the basis of which the organization and carrying out of the foreign exchange activity for individuals and of collecting the travel cheques can be carried out, on the territory of Romania, are the authorization and the letter of assignment of the statistical code, documents with limited validity in time.

The decision also sets out the conditions to be fulfilled and the documents to be submitted by the entities, depending on the category to which they belong, in order to obtain the authorization and the letter of assignment of the statistical code.
