Importance of Black Sea for Euro-Atlantic security, emphasized by DefMin during meeting with US Chargé d’Affaires

The Minister of National Defense, Angel Tilvar, received on Thursday, at the Ministry of National Defence (MApN) headquarters, the charge d’affaires of the US Embassy in Bucharest, David Muniz, with whom he discussed the role of the Black Sea region in Euro-Atlantic security, the ministry informs in a press release, according to Agerpres.

The two officials detailed the priorities of bilateral defense cooperation and discussed the current security challenges in the Black Sea region, in the context of recent developments in the region and in accordance with the US strategic priorities outlined in the National Security Strategy and the National Defense Strategy recently published by the US government.

Minister Tilvar emphasized the solidity of the bilateral strategic partnership and its importance in the modernization process of the Romanian Army. He also thanked the American partner for the very good level of collaboration at the operational level, the joint training contributing to the increase of interoperability between the armed forces of the two countries.

Thus, Minister Tilvar emphasized the importance of the Black Sea for Euro-Atlantic security and expressed appreciation for the US commitment to the security of the region, by increasing the military presence in Romania and by supporting decisions at the allied level to strengthen the defense and deterrence posture in a unitary manner on the entire allied eastern flank.
