MADR: Over 1.1 million ha affected by drought in 37 counties and Bucharest

The total area affected by drought reported until Friday is 1,114,543 hectares, in 37 counties and Bucharest, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR) informs, according to Agerpres.

The main crops sowed in autumn last year affected by drought are wheat, triticale – 189,339 ha, barley, two-row barley, oats, rye – 30,698 ha and rapeseed – 26,805 ha.

The most affected spring crops are corn – 482,287 ha, sunflower – 242,223 ha, soybean – 39,473 ha and fodder plants – 46,164 ha.

The most affected crops sowed in the spring of this year are corn – 495,602 ha, sunflower – 249,388 ha, soybean – 40,555 ha and fodder plants – 49,211 ha.

The counties that have reported crops affected by drought are the following: Alba, Arad, Arges, Bacau, Bihor, Botosani, Brasov, Braila, Buzau, Calarasi, Caras-Severin, Cluj, Constanta, Dambovita, Dolj, Galati, Giurgiu, Gorj, Hunedoara, Ialomita, Iasi, Ilfov, Maramures, Mehedinti, Mures, Neamt, Olt, Prahova, Salaj, Satu Mare, Suceava, Teleorman, Timis, Tulcea, Valcea, Vaslui, Vrancea and Bucharest.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development announced on Thursday that over 16,000 farmers affected by pedological drought, on an area of about 250,000 hectares of crops established in the autumn of 2021, shall benefit from state aid in the form of a financial grant worth 365 million lei. The aid will be a maximum of 1,500 lei/ha related to a 100pct degree of damage.
