Elections in Kazakhstan: President Tokaev wins by a landslide

The outgoing Kazakh president, Kasîm-Jomart Tokaev, won the early presidential elections in this largest country in Central Asia by a landslide, according to the preliminary results announced on Monday, AFP informs, Agerpres reads.

Kasîm-Jomart Tokaev, 69, who came to power in 2019, obtained 81.31% of the votes, according to the first information provided on Monday by the Electoral Commission of Kazakhstan, while the participation in the elections was 69.44%.

As expected, his five opponents were mere figures, none of them exceeding 3.42%.

A novelty of this election, the voting option „against all” attracted 5.8% of the voters, ranking second.
