Uganda recording a downward trend in Ebola cases

Published on

Uganda has seen a reduction in the number of Ebola infections, with some districts not registering any new cases for at least two weeks, representatives of the Ministry of Health announced, Reuters reports, Agerpres reads.

This development is an important indicator that the East African country is making progress in trying to combat the latest outbreak of the deadly hemorrhagic disease, two months after it was declared.

Mubende district in central Uganda was where the outbreak was initially declared on September 20. This and another district, Kassanda, are considered the epicenters from which the disease spread. Movements in and out of them were restricted.
