Nicolae Ciuca: Gender-based violence means the loss of humanity

Published on

Humanity and respect must govern relations between people in order to get closer to a natural society where violence no longer finds its place, Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca says in a message on November 25, the International Day against Violence against Women, according to Agerpres.

He adds that understanding emotional triggers, beliefs and stereotypes as well as the social and economic conditions and limitations that underlie this phenomenon is a foundation on which the government builds the prevention component in its fight against gender-based violence.

He welcomes the initiative of the Romanian Ministry of Family, Youth and Equal Opportunities to promote a campaign to eliminate violence against women and girls November 25 – December 10 (International Human Rights Day) to warn the public and decision-makers about domestic violence and violence against women.

„Gender-based violence is a flagrant violation of natural human rights and means a loss of humanity, with serious trans-generational consequences. I believe that we all are under an obligation to get ourselves informed and learn from those who follow in our footsteps, and we are all responsible for educating future generations in a spirit of harmony that exists naturally, regardless of gender. Humanity and respect must govern relations between people in order to get closer to a society of nature where violence no longer finds its place.”
