Russia threatens to stop supplying oil to countries that impose price caps

Russia thretened on Friday it would stop selling oil to countries that impose price caps on it’s energy resources. Moscow said the caps would lead to significant destabilisation of the global oil market, according to Reuters.

„Companies that impose a price cap will not be among the recipients of Russian oil. We will simply not cooperate with them on non-market principles,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the media.

Dmitry Peskov’s reffered only to oil exports, but aflter his statement, the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said it’s time for the European Union to impose price caps for Russian gas as well.

Former Russian president Dmitri Medvedev reacted on Telegram: „There will simply be no more Russian gas in Europe!”
