Presidents Macron and Biden want to find a solution to the war in Ukraine together

Presidents Joe Biden and Emmanuel Macron expressed, in Washington, their desire to jointly seek a solution to the war in Ukraine, but without reducing support for Kyiv, during a state visit by the French president to the US characterized by affection diplomatic, reports AFP, Agerpres reads.

„I’m ready to talk to Putin if he’s looking for a way to end the war. He hasn’t done it yet,” the US president said at a press conference with his French counterpart. „If that were to happen thing, then, in consultation with my French and NATO friends, I’d be happy to sit down with Putin to see what he’s up to. He hasn’t done it yet,” Joe Biden continued.

The two presidents reiterated their commitment to continue supporting Ukraine, with the French president assuring that „he will never push the Ukrainians to accept a compromise that would be unacceptable to them” because it would not allow the construction of „a lasting peace”.

In an interview given to an American channel on Thursday morning, Emmanuel Macron confirmed his intention to speak with the Russian president, especially on topics such as civilian nuclear energy and the Zaporozhye plant.

„I wanted to make the state visit first and have an in-depth discussion with President Biden and our teams together,” President Macron told ABC, indicating that he would speak with the Russian president „in the coming days.” do we return to the table of discussions and negotiate something? I think it is still possible”, said the head of the French state.
