New car registrations go up by 5.08% in Romania, after eight months

The number of new car registrations increased in Romania by 5.08%, in the first eight months of this year, compared to the same period in 2021, according to the data published by the Directorate for Driving Licenses and Vehicle Registration (DRPCIV), quoted by the Romanian Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACAROM), according to Agerpres.

Thus, in the analyzed period, 83,349 new cars were registered, compared to the 79,320 units recorded a year ago, the same interval.

According to the quoted source, in August, new car registrations in Romania decreased by 22.26%, compared to the same period in 2021, to a volume of 12,538 units.

As regards the second-hand cars registered for the first time in Romania, their volume reached, in August 2022, the figure of 28,048 units, down 19.46% compared to August 2021.

Furthermore, between January and August of this year, 213,413 used cars were registered, registered for the first time nationally, 20.96% less compared to the same period of the previous year (270,016 units).

In the ranking of new car brands registered in Romania in the first eight months, Dacia leads by far, with 24,148 registered units, followed by Toyota – with 6,860 units, Hyundai (6,607), Ford (6,062), Skoda (5,508), Volkswagen (5,242), Renault (4,630), Peugeot (2,469), Mercedes (2,322) and Kia (1,982).
