Chairman of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR), deputy George Simion, calls on Romanians to continue the boycott of Austrian products, and asked president Iohannis to put on the agenda of the next European Council the topic of the accession of Romania and Bulgaria to the Schengen area, according to Agerpres.
„We call on Romanians to continue the boycott of Austrian products, we believe that in the long term this boycott will give results and we believe that a responsible government of Romania will be able to take even braver steps. For example, what should have been done immediately was the transition to a bank of the Romanian state of all the accounts of the Romanian institutions. The fact that president Klaus Iohannis asked not to boycott Austrian products and Austrian companies, in our opinion, is treason. We call on Klaus Iohannis to put on the agenda of the next European Council the topic of Romania’s accession and Bulgaria to the Schengen area and the issue of the accession of Romania and Bulgaria to the Schengen area should be on the agenda of the next JHA. Those who brilliantly missed our accession to Schengen must take responsibility now, in December,” said George Simon.
Simion criticized, on Monday, the absence of the minister of foreign affairs, Bogdan Aurescu, from the „Question Time” parliamentary debate, arguing that the latter invented an „alleged” trip in order not to come to the plenary session of the Chamber of Deputies where he should have given explanations regarding to the rejection of our country’s accession to the Schengen area.
„Mr. foreign minister, Mr. Bogdan Aurescu, should have been present in front of the Romanian deputies today, at ‘Question Time’. The fact that Mr. Aurescu was not present today, inventing, I think, an alleged trip that was not on Mr. Aurescu’s agenda from two weeks ago shows that the entire Ciuca Cabinet is running away from responsibility. I have not seen even one resignation, not even one person responsible, no matter how little. This means a lack of responsibility on the part of the Ciuca Cabinet and of the Romanian diplomacy,” said Simion, in a press conference at the Palace of the Parliament.
