Romania is seeking a major poultry supply contract with Singapore importers through the approval of Singapore Food Agency (SFA), diversifying its exports, and being a source for processed food to the affluence Southeast Asian city state that depends on imports.

“We have initiated negotiations on supply poultry and other meat products,” said an official at Romanian Chamber of Commerce (Singapore) – RoCham, Y2021 set up chamber with the aim of promoting bilateral trade between Romania & Singapore and across the Southeast Asian markets.

Resource-rich Romania has been an important source of supplies to the European markets.

Its poultry industry was constantly increasing during the last years.

As well, during the Economic Mission co-organized by RoCham with SgTech Singapore 18-25 September in Romania, RoCham has connected the representatives of Enterprise Singapore (one of the most important Sg governmental agencies) and ANSVSA (Romanian National Agency for Food Safety ) in order to facilitate the communication and cooperation between Ro-Sg authorities towards mutual benefits of Sg & Ro business community.

“We have large resources for the Asian market . We are now working to increase exports to prosperous Asian markets, some of which are facing supply constraints following the pandemic shutdowns.”

The official noted that Singapore, an Asian capital market, was furthering its role in the global supply chains.

“There is no denial that Singapore has faced challenges in source food supplies from its neighbouring countries during pandemic constraints and the island state is looking to diversify its source of supply. But we are here to help with that supply chain constraints and increase our exports to the 5.5 million people in Singapore as well as 684 million people Southeast Asian markets,” the official said.

In 2022 RoCham has initiated discussion with Singapore Meat Traders Association towards mediating the relationship with Romanian meat producers.
