Romania’s retail trade turnover (except for trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles) over January – July was up 4.8 percent in unadjusted terms from the year-ago period, according to data released on Monday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), according to Agerpres.
According to official statistics, retail volumes of motor fuels sold in specialized stores increased 8.5 percent in the reporting period, non-food sales advanced 5.2 percent, and sales of food, beverages and tobacco went up 2.2 percent.
Expressed as workday and seasonally adjusted series, the retail turnover (except for trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles) over January 1 – July 31, 2022 increased 6.2 percent overall from the same period last year due to growth in automotive fuel retail sales in specialized stores (+8.5 percent), non-food sales (+4.9 percent) and sales of food, beverages and tobacco (+4.6 percent).
Month-over-month, July’s retail turnover was 6.4 percent up overall, with growth registered in the retail of automotive fuels in specialized stores (+12.2 percent), sales of food, beverages and tobacco (+7.2 percent) and non-food retail sales (+2.6 percent).
In adjusted terms, the retail turnover increased by 0.2 percent in July, as a result of the advance in sales of non-food products (+0.5 percent), sales of food, beverages and tobacco (+0.4 percent) and retail sales of automotive fuels in specialized stores (+0.1 percent).
Year-over-year, July’s retail turnover was 2.5 percent up in unadjusted terms, and 3.4 percent higher on a workday and seasonally adjusted basis.
