Road Infrastructure company terminatest contracts with Tirrena Scavi

The National Company for Road Infrastructure Administration (CNAIR) will terminate the contracts with the Italian builder Tirrena Scavi, citing the contractor’s poor mobilization and financial inability to continue the projects it is running, CNAIR announced in a statement sent to Agerpres.

„Considering the weak mobilization and the financial inability of the Italian builder to continue the projects they are running, the management of CNAIR took the decision to terminate the contracts concluded with this contractor. We specify that there are major delays in the construction of the Timisoara Sud Bypass in relation to the deadline for completion. The contractual deadline for this objective was far exceeded, and mobilization on the site was deficient throughout 2022, reaching a physical stage of only 58.26%. Also, on section 1 of the Craiova – Pitesti expressway, physical progress is only 57.06%, although the contractual deadline for completion was 2022,” CNAIR says.

On the belt sector of Bucharest, between DN 2 and A2, where there is a contract for modernization works, the physical progress is only 20.76%, and according to the term assumed by the contract, the objective had to be completed for more than a year, respectively on August 4, 2021.

„These delays also cause significant material damage, in addition to those resulting from the impossibility of using the road infrastructure. CNAIR will take all steps to relaunch these projects in the shortest possible time. Builders must be aware of the obligation to approach seriously the contracts they sign with CNAIR. Otherwise, they will bear the legal consequences that derive including from the issuance of negative certificates, which are valid for 3 years,” CNAIR highlights.
