Vladimir Putin will not send New Year’s greetings to American Presidents Joe Biden, French Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, the Kremlin announced on Friday, in the midst of a crisis between Moscow and the West due to the Russian offensive in Ukraine, AFP reports, Agerpres reads.

„These counterparts do not send us any greetings. In fact, we do not have any contact with them. And, considering the hostile acts they constantly undertake, the president will not send them greetings,” spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the press of the Russian presidency.

On the other hand, Vladimir Putin has already sent wishes for a good year in 2023 to several leaders closer to the Kremlin.

According to a list published on Friday by the Russian presidency, Vladimir Putin especially congratulated Chinese President Xi Jinping, Turkish Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Syrian Bashar al-Assad, Venezuelan Nicolas Maduro, as well as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to the Kremlin, he also sent wishes to former Western leaders, Italian Silvio Berlusconi and German Gerhard Schroder.
