No one has made or lost more money than Elon Musk, with the 51-year-old entrepreneur’s fortune registering an unprecedented loss of $200 billion as of November 2021, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, tca/dpa informs, Agerpres reads.
His fortune was reportedly $340 billion 14 months ago. It is now valued at 137 billion dollars, which cost him the distinction of the richest man in the world. This title now belongs to the chairman of the French lifestyle brand LVMH, Bernard Arnault, who has a fortune of 162 billion dollars.
Forbes dethroned Elon Musk from the top spot in the December billionaires list.
Musk, who owns electric car company Tesla and aerospace company SpaceX, bought social media platform Twitter for $44 billion in October, coinciding with a continued decline in Tesla’s stock value that some shareholders do not believe it is a coincidence.
In November, Elon Musk joked about losing money on Twitter. „How to make a small fortune on social media? Start with a big one,” he tweeted.
