The United States of America (USA) is offering the Republic of Moldova 30 million dollars to strengthen the energy sector, the President of the Republic, Maia Sandu, announced on Twitter on Friday, Radio Chisinau informs, Agerpres reads.
According to Maia Sandu, the money is offered in the form of support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
„This will help us manage the challenges of winter and maintain stability in the country,” emphasized Maia Sandu.
In a press release, USAID states that the financial support is provided to help the government of the Republic of Moldova manage the energy crisis and cope with the increase in energy prices caused by the war launched by Russia against Ukraine.
For months, the Republic of Moldova has been experiencing interruptions in the supply of Russian gas and power cuts, which caused great problems in the country, which was forced to ask for help from the European Union and buy additional volumes from third countries.
