The road transport of goods recorded, in the first nine months of 2022, an increase of 6.9 pct in terms of the volume of transported goods, compared to the similar period of 2021, while a decrease of 2.9 pct was recorded in rail transport, according to data centralized by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), Agerpres reports.

In road transport, of the total of 238.448 million tons of transported goods, 83 pct were registered in national transport, which marked an increase of 8.3 pct compared to the same period of the previous year. The route of the goods increased by 5 pct, in national transport registering an advance of 9 pct.

On the other hand, 41.797 million tons of goods were transported in railway transport, of which 77.9 pct in national transport. The tariffs of goods decreased by 2.6 pct and a decrease was recorded only in national transport, respectively by 10.9 pct.

According to INS data, in the mentioned period, 45.443 million tons were registered in maritime transport, of which 45.433 million tons were in international transport, and compared to the period from January 1 to September 30, 2021, the total volume marked an increase of 13.9 pct.

Goods transported on inland waterways totaled 21.446 million tons, of which 37.4 pct in national transport. The volume of transported goods decreased by 12.1 pct compared to the same period of the previous year, while the length of the goods decreased by 22.1 pct.

Transportation by main oil pipelines recorded 5.080 million tons of transported goods, increasing by 3.4 pct compared to the same period in 2021, while the length of goods increased by 7.5 pct, from year to year.

In air transport, the volume of transported goods registered a total of 37,000 tons, up 26.7 pct compared to the first nine months of the previous year.

Of the total of goods in international road transport, respectively 40.632 million tons, transport between third countries represented 46.3 pct, cabotage 21.9% and loaded goods 17.7 pct.

INS statistics show that, in the international road transport of goods, 93 pct of all goods unloaded came from member states of the European Union and 94.2 pct of all goods loaded were destined for member states.

The largest quantities of goods unloaded came from Germany (20 pct), Hungary (14.7 pct) and Italy (13.5 pct), and in terms of loading, 18.3 pct of the volume of goods was destined Germany, 17.3 pct Italy and 12.4 pct Hungary.
