The current account of the balance of payments registered, in the period January – November 2022, a deficit of 25.340 billion euros, up by 61.7%, compared to 15.666 billion euros in the period January – November 2021, informs, on Friday, the National Bank of Romania (BNR), according to Agerpres.
In its structure, the balance of goods recorded a deficit greater by 8.595 billion euros, the balance of services recorded a greater surplus by 2.415 billion euros, the balance of primary incomes recorded a greater deficit by 4.252 billion euros, and the balance of secondary incomes recorded a surplus greater by 758 million euros.
Between January and November 2022, the total external debt increased by 7.133 billion euros. In structure, the long-term external debt amounted to 97.407 billion euros on November 30, 2022 (67.8% of the total external debt), down 0.1% compared to December 31, 2021; the short-term external debt recorded on November 30, 2022 the level of 46.311 billion euros (32.2% of the total external debt), increasing by 18.6% compared to December 31, 2021.
According to the BNR press release, the long-term external debt service rate was 15.5% between January and November 2022, compared to 17% in 2021. The degree of coverage of imports of goods and services on November 30, 2022 was 4, 3 months, compared to 4.9 months at 31 December 2021.
The degree of coverage of the short-term external debt, calculated at the residual value, with foreign exchange reserves at the BNR on November 30, 2022 was 78.8%, compared to 79.4% on December 31, 2021.
