Masdar company from the United Arab Emirates and Hidroelectrica company will collaborate for the production of renewable energy, with discussions at technical level already being in progress, and TAQA company is also interested in the development of energy transport infrastructure projects, Energy Minister Virgil Popescu wrote on his Facebook page, according to Agerpres.
„Within the working visit to the United Arab Emirates, where the 13th session of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) Assembly is taking place, I had a bilateral meeting today with Minister of Energy and Infrastructure HE Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei. We discussed joint actions in the energy area, common points of interest being the putting into operation new natural gas transmission routes from the Gulf area, LNG [Liquefied natural gas], renewable energy production, the development of safe and sustainable energy technologies in order to increase energy efficiency and the use of hydrogen in the energy mix. Furthermore, we discussed about the investment plans of the Emirati companies which are to be made in our country. For example, Masdar company in partnership with Hidroelectrica will collaborate for the production of renewable energy, discussions having already been started at technical level. Moreover, those from TAQA company are interested in the development of energy transport infrastructure projects,” the official underscored.
According to the quoted source, strengthening the bilateral relations between Romania and the United Arab Emirates, especially in the energy area, is a priority for both relevant ministries of the two countries.
