RON 500 million under PNRR for 55 healthcare facilities

The Ministry of Health has announced that over RON 500 million under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) will be allocated for the modernisation and equipment of 55 specialist outpatient clinics in Romania, according to Agerpres.

According to a press statement released on Friday, after the evaluation of 142 requests for project funding to upgrade and equip specialist outpatient clinics in Romania, 55 healthcare facilities were selected in descending order of scores, to which RON 514 million, VAT excluded, worth of non-refundable European money will be allocated.

„One of my concerns as the health minister is to develop ambulatory medical services, day hospitals and primary medicine as affordable as possible to patients in the communities where they live. According to the PNRR provisions, 30 outpatient clinics are to be funded. Following a consultation with the European Commission, we managed to double the number of outpatient clinics that will receive non-repayable funding,” Health Minister Alexandru Rafila is quoted as saying in the statement.

Works on the clinics will start this spring, after the Ministry of Health signs the financing contracts with the beneficiaries.

„Social development and economic development cannot happen without access to healthcare services and without a solid education system. We build new hospitals and wards where possible and encourage full rehabilitation of old buildings that allow the proper provision of hospital care under safe circumstances for patients. As long as I am the health minister, I will be a partner and supporter of the local administration officials who want to build healthcare facilities for the residents of the communities they lead,” said Rafila.
