Crucial meeting in Germany of countries supporting Ukraine militarily

Published on

Countries that support Ukraine militarily are attending a meeting in Germany on Friday, from which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says he expects „solid decisions”, such as sending heavy armored vehicles, to help his country in future crucial battles against Russia, France Presse reports, Agerpres reads.

A few hours before this meeting at the American base Ramstein, the United States, the United Kingdom, Sweden and Denmark announced substantial new arms deliveries to Ukraine.

Washington will unlock $2.5 billion in new military aid, which will include 59 Bradley armored vehicles, to be added to the 50 light armored vehicles of this type promised on January 6, and 90 armored personnel carriers Stryker troops, according to the Pentagon.

Also, the US Army will deliver to Ukraine 53 mine-resistant armored vehicles (MRAP) and 350 M998 transport vehicles, the famous Humvee. This new tranche brings to $26.7 billion the total amount of US military aid to Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian invasion on February 24 last year.
