The new US ambassador to Russia, Lynn Tracy, arrived in Moscow to take up her post in a country with which relations are practically non-existent and whose propaganda apparatus accuses the US and NATO of being the „real aggressors” in the conflict from Ukraine, EFE reports, Agerpres reads.
”Welcome back to Russia, Ambassador Tracy!”, the American diplomatic mission wrote in Russian on its official Twitter account, under a photo of the diplomat who had just landed in Moscow.
Tracy, who speaks fluent Russian, was the chargé d’affaires at the US embassy in Moscow from 2014 to 2017, so she knows the country well. She was also Senior Advisor for Russia Affairs in the US State Department’s Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs from 2017 to 2018.
Tracy is the first woman to take over the post of US ambassador to Russia, succeeding John Sullivan, who left Russia in September 2022 after a three-year mission to the country.
Before leaving for Russia, Tracy met in Washington with the Russian ambassador to the US, Anatoli Antonov.
