Culture Minister: The immense tragedy suffered by the Jews must be permanently remembered

Published on

The minister of Culture, Lucian Romascanu, sent a message on Friday, on International Holocaust Remembrance Day, in which he urges the preservation of the memory of the „immense tragedy suffered by the Jews”, so that „hate of some against others, under no justification, will never again be possible”, according to Agerpres.

„Today is Holocaust Remembrance Day. A day with a great emotional charge, a day that must remind us that when we forget the divine spark within us, ‘man becomes a wolf to man’. The immense tragedy suffered by the Jews must be constantly remembered, narrated, cried, so that hatred of some against others will never be possible again, under any justification. And together with the tragedy of the Jews, let us also remember the tragedy of the Roma, the victims of communism, all the martyrs of the madness of history. May God rest them and make their sacrifice useful!”, Romascanu said.

January 27, 1945 represents the day of the liberation of the prisoners from the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp and marks the international commemoration of the victims of the Holocaust.

The Bucharest pogrom took place between January 21 and 23, 1941.
