PSD’s Ciolacu: Solidarity tax paid by Romanian capital, 1% – fair rule for everyone

Published on

Social Democratic Party (PSD) President, Marcel Ciolacu, said, in Sinaia, referring to the solidarity tax for large companies, that in a competitive milieu it is fair that the legislation be uniform for everyone, according to Agerpres.

„If all companies with Romanian capital pay at least 1% of their turnover, then we go with 1% for everyone,” said Ciolacu.

On the other hand, the leader of the social democrats says that there are no proposals for tax changes.

Referring to the reduction of the VAT on basic foods, he showed that the measure must be considered together with others in order to be effective.

„The VAT reduction was done for basic foods, without taking other measures or not thinking about this measure as a whole, and after a month we found out that the VAT reduction has returned. In fact, the fight is with inflation. An important component of inflation at this moment is represented by food price increases. (…) I repeat, a whole package is needed to be sustainable, not something emotional for us to brag that we lowered the VAT and made it cheaper, and in a month the prices should be the same”, explained the PSD president.
