Ten Romanian nationals request consular repatriation assistance after Turkey earthquake

The Foreign Affairs Ministry informs that 10 Romanian citizens – a teacher and 9 Erasmus students – called the emergency hotline of the Romanian Embassy in Ankara after the powerful earthquake that hit south-eastern Turkey on Monday. The group were staying at a hotel in the city of Kahramanmaras, which was also affected by the tremor, and requested consular assistance and support for repatriation; they reported that they are safe, Agerpres informs.

According to the Foreign Ministry, a mobile consular team of the Romanian Embassy in Ankara is underway to Kahramanmaras with two vehicles in order to pick up the Romanian citizens; details regarding their transport to Romania will be established later.

The Foreign Ministry mentions that Romanian citizens can request consular assistance at the following phone numbers of the Romanian Embassy in Ankara: +90.312.447.7945 and +90.312.447.7940, the calls being redirected to the Contact and Support Center for Romanian Citizens Abroad and handled by call center operators 24/7.

Also, the Romanian citizens who are facing a difficult, special or emergency situation can call the emergency number of the Romanian diplomatic mission at: +90.532.318.1726.
