National Company Romarm SA and South Korea’s aerospace technology producer Hanwha Aerospace signed on Monday a Memorandum of Understanding on industrial cooperation, Minister of Economy Florin Spataru announced, according to Agerpres.
According to the Economy official, another memorandum will be inked on Wednesday with another defence industry company, as part of the current visit to Romania by representatives of several South Korean companies.
„Here we are, after my visit to South Korea together with Chamber of Deputies Speaker Marcel Ciolacu and Prime Minister of Romania Nicolae Ciuca, taking a first step in the development of this cooperation,” Florin Spataru told a press conference.
He emphasized that the Romanian defence industry is seeking partnerships capable of creating equipment, products, services for the Ministry of National Defence, but also of covering NATO members’ needs for defence.
„Let’s hope that in the course of this year – and this is the challenge I raise to both Romarm and Hanwha – we will be able to come up with a concrete investment plan, for technology transfer – and that we will be able to meet in order to tackle the concrete project to be carried out in Romania,” the Economy minister added.
