President Iohannis signs condolence book opened at Turkish Embassy

President Klaus Iohannis signed, on Wednesday, the condolence book opened at the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in memory of the victims of the earthquakes in this country, according to Agerpres.

President Iohannis was welcomed by the ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Bucharest, Ozgur Kivanc Altan.

„Last night we approved the preparations for another team that will leave. (…) It consists of searchers and rescuers, but it also includes medical components. (…) We are doing what we can,” the head of state told the ambassador Ozgur Kivanc Altan.

The Turkish ambassador appreciated the help received from Romania and thanked for it.

„You are already saving lives. We are in contact with Dr. Arafat. He is doing a wonderful job. (…) We are receiving help from all Romanians,” said the Turkish ambassador to Romania.

„Let’s try to do what can be done and pray for the needy and for the families who have lost relatives,” replied the head of state.

The Turkish official told president Iohannis that his wife lost her uncle in the tragedy that took place in Turkey.

Earlier on Wednesday, the speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Marcel Ciolacu, signed the book of condolences opened at the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Bucharest in memory of the victims of the earthquakes in this country.
