Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca stated on Thursday that the response from the European Commission certified the fact the Romania implemented correctly the EU Regulation regarding the taxation of excessive profits made by large companies in the area of natural gas, oil, coal and refineries, adding that the state institutions must technically establish, until the middle of the year, which companies fall within the European provisions, taken over by our country as well, through emergency ordinance, in order to be taxed, according to Agerpres.
Ciuca was asked about the accuses between the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and the National Liberal Party (PNL) on the topic of the solidarity tax which should be enforced to OMV Petrom.
„In all this context, I believe that the political positioning, on one side or the other, is not exactly the most appropriate thing. What is important and I ask you to have confidence that we had and will continue to have the same approach, regardless of who is it and here, I wouldn’t refer to a certain company, because we are discussing about the implementation of a European directive which, as it was presented, in the response received from the Commission, Romania implemented this directive as correctly as possible. What is going to happen? Until the middle of the year, the companies that fulfill the provisions of this directive, practically, they are transposed in an emergency ordinance, we have state institutions that must deal with and must go, to find everything that needs to be identified technically, so that we can see whether or not it falls under the payment of taxes according to the provisions of the ordinance,” Ciuca stated.
