Romanian Government passes winter energy Programme

Published on

The government has approved a winter energy programme to supplements measures to secure energy supply continuity for the winter, according to governmental spokesman Dan Carbunaru, according to Agerpres.

„I would also like to tell you about the approval of the winter programme, because it is a concern with the government to make sure that all measures are taken, both regarding the deliveries of quantities of natural gas and electricity, and regarding the mechanisms by which these quantities will reach both the final users in Romanian households, and also the businesses. Therefore, by approving this energy programme, the measures to ensure continuity in the energy supply for the winter are completed,” Carbunaru told a news conference on Wednesday at the Government House.

He added that under an emergency ordinance approved by the government last week, a balancing of the package of measures has already taken place in order to keep at an affordable level the final cost for household consumers, SMEs and the food industry.

„Vulnerable citizens will continue to get aid. Equally, however, the winter programme should secure the country’s electricity demand for November 1, 2022 – March 31, 2023, both in terms of quality and safety of feeding, as well as in establishing the necessary energy resources for consumption.”
