Croatia and Romania share similar visions within the EU and NATO and have common goals in many key-areas, head of the European Affairs Committee of the Deputies’ Chamber Stefan Musoiu stated at a meeting with members of the counterpart committee of Parliament in Zagreb, Agerpres informs.

A delegation of the European Affairs Committee of Croatia’s Parliament, led by chairperson Domagoj Hajdukovic is on a working visit to Romania, at the invitation extended by Stefan Musoiu, according to a release sent to Agerpres on Tuesday.

The Croatian delegation had a meeting with members of the Romanian European Affairs Committee, which was also attended by Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to Romania Marija Kapitanovic.

At the meeting, the topic of discussions were the Schengen area, the conflict in Ukraine, energy security, the dynamics of the Eastern Partnership, the enlargement policy and the situation in the Western Balkans, with Romania and Croatia having similar standpoints, the quoted source shows.

„Croatia and Romania share similar visions within the EU and NATO, have common goals in many key-areas, this is way it is essential to collaborate openly and constructively in the regional space and not only,” Stefan Musoiu stated.

He congratulated Croatia for the accession to the Schengen area and Eurozone and voiced conviction that these developments will also reflect positively over the general framework of the cooperation between Romania and Croatia, by intensifying the bilateral dialogue and the exchange of experience.

„We thank Croatia for the firm support granted to Romania’s accession to Schengen and we express our confidence that this support will be kept until the completion of this major political objective,” Musoiu added.

In his turn, Domagoj Hajdukovic conveyed that Romania can count of the support of Croatia.

„You can count on our support,” the Croatian dignitary stated.

Furthermore, the Croatian counterparts underscored the need to develop the parliamentary relations, to boost bilateral economic exchanges, to encourage some partnerships in the area of education or to protect the rights of minorities and linguistic communities of Romania and Croatia, the release also said.
