Romanian Defence Minister to attend Munich Security Conference 2023

Published on

Romania’s Defence Minister Angel Tilvar will be participating, February 17-19, in the Munich Security Conference (MSC2023), a representative forum for discussions on the current dynamics of international security, Agerpres informs.

Among the guests are notable personalities from NATO, the EU, the UN, other international organisations, as well as important world leaders. The agenda of this year’s conference includes a wide range of current issues with a major impact on global security and an emphasis on the developments in the conflict in Ukraine almost a year after the Russian invasion, according to the Romanian Defence Ministry (MApN).

Tilvar will take part in the conference sessions focused on regional security developments, the implications of Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine, as well as regional stability and security.

During the conference, the Munich Security Report will be released, a document that highlights the profound changes in the security environment and the consequences of the unprovoked and unjustified war waged by the Russian Federation in Ukraine. Called „Re:vision”, the report explores intensifying authoritarian revisionism and the growing contest between different visions for the international order. It also stimulates the debate on how the coalition defending the vision of a liberal, rules-based order can be enlarged and strengthened, analysing different areas, such as: human rights, global infrastructures, development co-operation, energy security and nuclear order.

Thus, the report highlights the need for a reevaluation of the vision of the rules-based international order in order to strengthen democratic resilience.

On the sidelines of the event, Tilvar will participate in a working breakfast organised by the Cohen Group, a working breakfast extended by his German counterpart Boris Pistorius, and in other debates.
