Three-month ROBOR index falls to 7.03% per annum

The 3-month ROBOR index, based on which the cost of consumer loans in RON with variable interest is calculated, fell on Monday to 7.03% per annum, from 7.04% per annum, in the previous meeting, according to the data published by The National Bank of Romania (BNR), Agerpres informs.

At the beginning of last year, the 3-month ROBOR index was 3.02% per annum, and at the beginning of this year it had risen to 7.56%.

The 6-month index, used in the of interest on mortgage loans in lei with variable interest, reached the level of 7.34% per annum, from 7.36%, while the 12-month ROBOR decreased to 7.72 % per annum, from 7.73%.

Regarding the reference index for consumer loans (IRCC), regulated by GEO 19/2019, it is 5.71% per annum, being calculated as the arithmetic average of the daily interest rates of interbank transactions from the third quarter of 2022, in increase compared to the one published three months ago, of 4.06%.

In May 2019, GEO 19/2019 entered into force, which modifies the way in which the rate is calculated for loans in RON with variable interest. Thus, Ordinance 19/2019 established the reference index for consumer loans (IRCC), calculated quarterly exclusively based on interbank transactions.
