The police intervened, in 2022, in 816,556 cases notified through the National Single Emergency Call System 112, in 75% of these the interventions were in less than 10 minutes, compared to 77.1% in 2021, states a press release from the Ministry Internal Affairs (MAI), according to Agerpres.
According to the cited source, last year 67,071 street crimes were reported, 14.4% of which were discovered in the act.
Criminality in the rural environment represented 36.9% of all cases in 2022, an increase of 5.3% compared to 2021, the largest share being the crimes of hitting or other violence (25%) and theft (16.4%), MAI states.
Regarding theft crimes, 22% were thefts from homes, 15.8% from yards, households, 7.2% from commercial companies and 4.9% thefts of animals.
According to MAI, in 2022, serious crimes, committed with violence, registered a decrease of 22.8% compared to 2021, with 142 cases reported.
Also, during the past year, the policemen resolved 118,031 conflict situations that could degenerate into violence, in 8.5% groups of people were involved.
At the same time, in the same period, the police intervened as a result of the generation of 372 alerts through the Electronic Monitoring Information System (S.I.M.E.).
The Ministry of Internal Affairs also informs that last year the number of protection orders issued in rural areas was 5,069, an increase of approximately 20% compared to 2021.
Also in 2022, the Romanian Gendarmerie carried out 26,047 public order assurance missions, 3,555 more than the previous year, among these missions are those occasioned by the SAGA, NEVERSEA, Electric Castle, UNTOLD and INTENCITY festivals, where over 500,000 people participated, as well as the religious processions from Iasi, with 600,000 participants, and from Bucharest, with over 100,000 participants.
On this occasion, 17,222 crimes were detected, 198 more than the previous year, and 124,485 contraventional sanctions were applied, of which 50,534 were written warnings and 73,951 fines, in the amount of 34,115,786 lei, the cited source states.
