Romanian National News Agency (Agerpres) & Moldovan state agency (Moldpres) – sign new collaboration agreement

Published on

AGERPRES special correspondent Cristian Lupascu reports: AGERPRES Romanian National News Agency has signed on Tuesday a new collaboration agreement on the mutual exchange of news with Moldovan state agency Moldpres.

The document was signed by the directors of the two media institutions, Claudia Nicolae and Petru Beregoi, respectively, in the presence of Romania’s Ambassador in Chisinau Cristian-Leon Turcanu, write Agerpres.

The agreement provides, among others, the free news pick-up by the two agencies, as well as the organisation of professional training courses for their journalists.

„The fact that we trust each other gives legitimacy to the news we provide. The state institutions are the most objective, they are the most quoted, and a good collaboration helps each of us do our job easier,” said AGERPRES Director Claudia Nicolae.

Moldpres Director Petru Beregoi voiced hope that the two media institutions will have a good collaboration.

„We hope that, with the signing, we will resume good cooperation, which has stagnated for some years for some reasons,” Petru Beregoi stressed.

Romania’s Ambassador to Moldova Cristian-Leon Turcanu said that the signing of such an agreement is all the more important in the context of the hybrid war that Russia has triggered in the region.

„I am glad that this agreement is being signed today because, in my view, it means closer cooperation between two very important news agencies, especially in the current context we are in today, in the hybrid war waged by Russia throughout the region, which affects us all. It is important to know that we can rely on clean, honest information and news in order to avoid the extremely aggressive propaganda coming from Moscow,” said Cristian-Leon Turcanu.

The first agreement between the two media institutions was concluded in 1992.
