British racer Mark Donovan wins overall title at Sibiu Cycling Tour

British cyclist Mark Donovan (aged 24, Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team) is the overall winner of this year’s Sibiu Cycling Tour, a four-day, five-stage race which ended on Sunday in the city center with an individual time trial, write Agerpres.

Belgian Lennert van Eetvelt (Lotto Dstny) finished 8 seconds behind Donovan, and Czech Jakub Otruba (Att Investments) was third in the ranking, 12 seconds later.

Finnish racer Antti-Jussi Juntunen (ABloc CT) came on top of the climbers’ ranking, while Czech Daniel Turek (Att Investments) took first place in the sprinters’ standings.

Belgian Lennert van Eetvelt (Lotto Dstny) headed the Under-23 ranking.

Cristian Raileanu of Romania’s national team was the best ranked Romanian, 20th, at 10 min 31 sec.

Sam Bennett of Ireland and team Bora-Hansgrohe emerged victorious in the points classification, followed by Milan Menten (Belgium) and Mark Donovan.

Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team took first place in the team ranking, and the Romanian national team finished 18th out of 22.

Mark Donovan is the first Brit to win the Sibiu Tour; in the 13 years of the competition’s existence, no Romanian has been able to win it.
