Four people lost their lives, and houses, buildings and cars were damaged as a result of the storms and heavy rainfall, on Wednesday evening and night, which affected more than 50 towns in 19 counties and the city of Bucharest, informs the General Inspectorate for Situations of Emergency (IGSU), write Agerpres.
Three of the deceased were struck by lightning in Botosani and Caras-Severin counties, and another person died after a tree fell on the car he was in in Alba county, says IGSU, in a statement sent to AGERPRES on Thursday.
Firefighters made efforts to clear some construction elements, six pillars and 117 trees fallen on the road, cars and buildings. Prompt interventions were also carried out to evacuate water from an annex, seven cellars, two block of flats’ basements and two streets. As a result of these events, nine houses, 16 blocks of flats and 18 cars were damaged, the source states.
Another incident took place in Ilfov county, where a fallen tree hit a moving car, injuring a person who was rushed to the hospital.
