The Ministry of Transport has asked for RON 16 billion at the budget revision, of which an overwhelming proportion will be for investment, as the amount is necessary throughout the year, Transport Minister Sorin Grindeanu told a news conference on Wednesday, write Agerpres.
„The revision, as far as I know, will be a positive revision, which is a good first thing. The amount might be lower than what we, at transport, asked for. We asked for RON 16 billion, justified. I think we are the ones to spend, if I can use this verb, mostly on investment,” said Grindeanu.
Asked if certain projects could be delayed if they do not get this money upon revision, Grindeanu said that the requested amount is necessary throughout the year.
He added that transport is a priority for the incumbent government and was also a priority for the Ciuca government.
„You should know that, when we came to the end of 2021, the budget of the Ministry of Transport was RON 14 billion, the largest, it’s true, in history. Less than two years later, we are now at RON 24 billion. If we were to receive all the requested money, another RON 16 billion, we would get close to RON 40 billion lei, which is three times more than two years ago. That shows that transport is a priority for the incumbent government and it was a priority for the Ciuca government as well,” added Grindeanu.
Grindeanu on Wednesday participated in the signing of a contract for the design and execution of portion 3 of the Sibiu-Fagaras Motorway.
