Romanian tennis player Marius Copil advanced on Wednesday to the quarterfinals of the 118,000 Lotto Kozerki Open Challenger Tour (Poland), after defeating Australian Marc Polmans 6-2, 6-2, write Agerpres.
Copil (aged 32, ATP No. 350), coming from the qualifiers, secured the victory against the fourth-seeded Polmans (26, ATP No. 176) in one hour and 35 minutes.
The Romanian finished with 10 aces and 3 double faults, saving all eight break points created by his opponent, while Polmans managed 6 aces and made 3 double faults.
Copil won 3,240 euros and 25 ATP points, and his next opponent will be decided by the match between Lebanese Benjamin Hassan and Czech Jiri Vesely.
The Romanian is also scheduled to play in Wednesday’s doubles alongside Poland’s Szymon Walkow against fourth-seeded all-Indian duo Anirudh Chandrasekar/Vijay Sundar Prashanth.
