The Romanian language is the most powerful bond for all Romanians, on Thursday said the Senate president, leader of the National Liberal Party Nicolae Ciuca, in a message on the occasion of the Romanian Language Day, write Agerpres.
„‘Do you speak Romanian? Are you from Romania?”. I have heard these questions many times abroad, where I have been over time. Every time I felt a strong feeling of joy. The Romanian language knows no borders. It is the basic element of our national identity, the strongest bond for all Romanians, no matter where they are on this earth.
Today we celebrate the National Day of the Romanian Language. I urge you to open a book by any great Romanian writer and think, even for a moment, about our language as a gift from God. It has united us for centuries and transformed a people into a nation and a history into a culture.
As Titu Maiorescu said, language is a divine gift, and the Romanian language is a gift that connects us all in our beautiful history. Happy birthday to the Romanian language and happy birthday to all those who speak the Romanian language!” Ciuca wrote on Facebook on Thursday. Romanian Language Day is celebrated every year on August 31 and this year it is celebrated as a first in Romania and in the Republic of Moldova, by the Romanian Academy and the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, since the official language of the two countries is called Romanian.
