Staff Sergeant Maidan Lucian-Florentin, from the “Morarilor” Fire Brigade Detachment of the Bucharest-Ilfov Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, has been named “Firefighter of the Year” at ceremonies marking Romanian Firefighters’ Day.
He received the distinction for his courage, initiative and dedication after responding to a fire while off duty in his hometown of Băicoi, Prahova County.
Maidan Lucian-Florentin received a RO-ALERT message reporting that a fire had broken out at a warehouse in the area. Although he was not on duty, the firefighter had his response equipment with him and went to the scene.
