Senate President Mircea Abrudean had separate meetings on Tuesday with Angela Ganninger, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Bucharest, and with Mohammed Abdulgani Mohammed Khayat, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Bucharest, bilateral cooperation being addressed in both meetings.
According to a Senate press release, during the meeting with the German diplomatic representative, President Abrudean emphasized the importance of diaspora communities and bilateral economic cooperation.
„The Romanian community in Germany, but also the German community in Romania, are significant in number and the reality of the diaspora, access to quality services, to correct information constantly concerns us,” declared Abrudean, quoted in the press release.
The dialogue aimed to strengthen the strategic partnership with Germany, with an emphasis on investments in key sectors such as the defense system, the automotive industry and information technology, the cited source mentions.
Mircea Abrudean highlighted Romania’s potential in cutting-edge fields: „I was happy to be able to give the example of Cluj, as a national hub for regional development, an important resource in IT and high-tech fields, technology for the defense and automotive industries.”
The meeting with the ambassador of Saudi Arabia took place in the context of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Romania and the kingdom.
„Romania and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are celebrating 30 years of diplomatic relations this year and it is important to improve our bilateral relationship and have commercial and diplomatic agreements in important areas such as air services, defense, infrastructure, agriculture, energy and IT,” said the President of the Senate.
He expressed optimism regarding the development of bilateral cooperation, noting that he is „confident” of a very good collaboration and the strengthening of diplomatic relations, including at the level of the parliamentary friendship group with Saudi Arabia.
The need for legislative harmonization to encourage foreign investment was also highlighted. „We have the resources, we have the potential, we have the human capital, we just need to make the necessary connections and harmonize the legislation in both countries to encourage foreign investment,” Abrudean pointed out.AGERPRES
