Abrudean: The reality is that a government that lacks political accountability risks having even weaker parliamentary support than a minority government

Published on

Senate President Mircea Abrudean says that the reality is that a government without political backing risks having even weaker parliamentary support than a minority government.

“Today, together with President Ilie Bolojan and my colleagues from the leadership of the National Liberal Party, I participated in a discussion with Prime Minister-designate Eugen Tomac.

We are set to make a decision within the party’s leadership, but until then, two important points can be highlighted:

1. The PSD has demonstrated that it cannot be a reliable partner, capable of honoring the commitments it makes;

2. A technocratic government, lacking political ownership, will not have the necessary strength to implement the reforms Romania needs. The reality is that a government without political ownership risks having even more fragile parliamentary support than a minority government.

“The context we find ourselves in is not an easy one. Access to funds from the #PNRR is conditional on the implementation of a series of reforms. It is also necessary for our country to continue measures to reduce the budget deficit,” Abrudean says on Facebook.
