Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Petre Daea will participate October 17-18 in the meeting of the Agriculture and Fisheries Council taking place in Luxembourg, the Ministry informs, according to Agerpres.
Debates will look at topics of interest for Romanian agriculture, including: the situation on agricultural markets, trade-related agricultural issues, EU initiatives regarding carbon management agricultural practices, the importance of cooperation between member states in the process of preparing the EU framework for forest monitoring and the development of strategic plans, the co-financing constraints of phytosanitary and veterinary programs generated by insufficient funding under the Single Market Program, as well as the promotion of animal manure as part of a circular economy.
The Ministers will exchange information regarding the situation on the agricultural markets in each country, assessed in the context of the Ukraine war. On this occasion, member states’ officials will highlight the impact on producers in all sectors generated by the increase in the prices of production factors and fertilizer shortage.
Also, the Agriculture officials will provide the Commission with guidelines for identifying the challenges and opportunities on international agricultural markets created by potential multilateral and bilateral trade agreements, while at the same time protecting the competitiveness of the EU’s agricultural sector.
