Aleksandar Vucic: Serbia under EU pressure to normalize relations with Kosovo

Published on

Serbia is under pressure from the West to normalize its relations with Kosovo, especially from the Europeans who are weighing its EU accession process, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Monday, AFP notes, Agerpres reads.

The Serbian president stated that he met last week with representatives of the European Union, France, Germany, Italy and the United States, who support a normalization of relations between Serbia and Kosovo, and on this occasion he issued an ultimatum.

„They said: you have to accept this plan, otherwise you will have to face an interruption of the European accession process, a stop and withdrawal of investments, as well as a series of economic and political measures that will do a lot of harm to the Republic of Serbia”, Vucic said during a televised press conference.

„Serbia must stay on the EU path, otherwise we will be lost economically and politically”, admitted the president. „I will not accept, as president, that we are alone and isolated,” he said.
