All county roads in the south-eastern and north-eastern parts of Vaslui County have been damaged by floods caused by heavy rainfall over the last three days.

According to the leadership of the Vaslui County Council (CJ), county workers and the Civil Engineering Corporation are assessing the damages; on some roads work is already being done, and on others works will be started when needed.

„There are several affected county roads, we are working on some of them; we will work on others, especially the stone ones. We are trying to unclog and we have tried throughout the period to secure fluent traffic. Damage is significant as it rained a lot. Together with the Emergency Management County Committee, we are making a detailed report of the disaster, trying to start mitigating the effects. There are a number of houses that can no longer be inhabited, there are houses affected by floods, people have lost everything. There are affected gardens, county roads that we have to restore. We are trying to put things in place, everything is in a flux. Virtually all roads in the south-eastern and north-eastern areas are affected by this bad weather,” Vaslui County Council Chair Ciprian Trifan told AGERPRES on Monday.

A state of alert will be declared in the areas affected by floods in Galati and Vaslui counties for urgent repairs, both of destroyed houses and annexes, as well as roads, bridges and other local infrastructure, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said on Monday.
