The activity of fishermen in the Black Sea area will be supported by funding of over nine million euros from the General Directorate of Fisheries – Management Authority for POPAM (DGP-AM POPAM), with a view to modernising and expanding the fishing infrastructure of the port of Midia in Constanta County, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR) announced on Monday.
„By developing the infrastructure of this multifunctional port, the activity of fishermen will be greatly improved by facilitating the landing and preparation for sale of catches from marine and inland waters, while maintaining product quality, as well as ensuring more efficient control of fishing activities and data collection, thus contributing to the sustainability of fishing in the area. By financing this action, DGP-AM POPAM is contributing to the development of port infrastructure, thus responding to the needs of fishermen in the Black Sea area,” the relevant ministry informs in a press release sent to AGERPRES.
According to the cited source, the total financial allocation for the entire Fisheries and Aquaculture programme is EUR 232,072,724 for the 2021-2027 programming period, of which the European Union’s contribution is EUR 162,450,905.
