As many as 293 illegal foreign immigrants were found by Immigration officers after checks carried out between July 19 and August 6 for keeping the summer season safe, the General Immigration Inspectorate announced, write Agerpres.

For all the violations found, the authorities handed down 139 sanctions and fines worth 105,600 RON.

Of the foreigners found in illegal situations, 57 are from Sri Lanka, 50 from Bangladesh, 28 from Pakistan, 28 from Nepal, and the rest hail from other countries.

As many as 210 return decisions were issued in the reporting period, 87 foreigners were removed from Romania under escort, and another 124 were taken into public custody.
